14 Habits For Good Health

When is the best time to start practicing good health habits?

  • When you are overweight?
  • Or when the Doctor tells you to?

The answer is now!

And good health requires habits just as bad health is usually a result of bad habits. And habits come from practice. So today, I am going to provide you with 14 habits you should practice to give yourself good health.

Keep in mind that habits are not developed immediately… They require practice. So I suggest you begin practicing the tips I am giving you and in time, they WILL become habitual.

#1 Habit For Good Health: Plan Healthy Meals

It takes some time, but making weekly meal plans ensures you will purchase healthy food items and skip all the junk food that does your body no good.

It is okay to start slowly. Go ahead and allow yourself a piece of junk from time to time.

As you progress with making meal plans, you will soon discover you really do not want the “junk.” Healthy meals will become a habit instead of an occasional deal.

#2 Habit For Good Health: Aerobic Exercises ½ – 1 Hour Per Day

Aerobics are an excellent method of helping both your physical health as well as your mental health.

Just like #1, start slow. There are many DVDs and other resources such as books and online sources that can show you some simple aerobic exercises.

When you commit yourself to just the short aerobic stints, soon you will find yourself wanting to do aerobics even longer than 1 hour per day.

#3 Habit For Good Health: Say No To Tobacco

Maybe you are a non-smoker now… Great!

But are you partaking in any other tobacco ridden “pleasures?”

  • Pipe,
  • Occasional cigar,
  • Or chew?

They are all bad too. Not to mention, hanging out in areas with tobacco smokers.

It takes a conscious decision to stay clear of tobacco. If you make it a priority, you will find yourself staying clear of the nicotine jungle.

And if you are a smoker, now is the time to “get that monkey off your back.”

#4 Habit For Good Health: Ingest The Rainbow

While I mentioned making weekly meal plans in #1, I must also inject how the rainbow is your friend for health.

Eat the rainbow!

What I mean is you should eat foods that carry the beautiful colors of the rainbow…

  • Red – Tomatoes, Beets, Strawberries
  • Orange – Carrots, Squash and (duh) Oranges
  • Yellow – Pineapple, Mangoes, Passion Fruit
  • Green – Peas, Lettuce, Spinach
  • Blue – Blueberries, Red Cabbage (Misnomer because it IS blue), Borage
  • Indigo – Black Beans, Black Berries, Raisins
  • Violet – Purple Cabbage, Plums, Elderberries

#5 Habit For Good Health: Proper Sleep

It is important that you have a comfortable mattress and low light in your sleeping area.

But the habit part comes in by setting an absolute hour to go to bed and getting from 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night.

It may be difficult setting this schedule at first, but you will soon find yourself developing a habit of going to bed at a set time and arising at a set time. And believe me, your health will benefit greatly.

#6 Habit For Good Health: Eat Breakfast Daily

Yes, I have been guilty of skipping breakfast and just downing a cup of coffee and I quickly noticed I was not at 100% throughout the day.

No matter how hurried you are, breakfast will help you solve all of a day’s issues and you will still have energy to keep going.

Make a solid breakfast a daily habit. Eat some fruits, carbs and protein and you will have excellent days.

#7 Habit For Good Health: Drink At Least 6 Cups Of Water Per Day

Our bodies need water. No, the water in coffee, soda or beer does not count.

Make water ingestion a habit.

You will not drown and you will stay hydrated which will leave you healthy and happy.

To develop this habit, carry one or two water bottles with you everywhere you go and sip from them often.

#8 Habit For Good Health: No Or Moderate Alcohol Intake

A glass of wine is not a bad thing, but more can be bad for your health.

You know your inner workings better than I do, so I suggest you take a close look at your life and either make it a habit to not drink alcohol at all or only do so in moderation.

#9 Habit For Good Health: Make It Active

Let’s face it, we have become a world of ease. There was a day when

  • We had to get out of our vehicle to open the garage door.
  • Someone had to get out of the chair to turn the television station.
  • Kids rode bicycles instead of motorized scooters.
  • Etc…
Technology is a wonderful thing but has also intensified weight gain and bad health because humans are less active.

So instead of allowing technology to do it all, make it a point to stay active. Why not:

  • Walk to the store from time to time?
  • Lose the television remote?
  • Make the next vacations active ones (hiking, camping, etc…)?
As you practice less technology, you will notice a huge health change in your life.

#10 Habit For Good Health: Quit Soda

My apologies to Pepsi, Coke and other soda brands, but you have deteriorated human health enough. The sugar and sweetener content has been a huge factor in obesity as well as diabetes and more.

I mentioned drinking water earlier and I suggest when you get that soda urge, just pull out that bottle of water and take some gulps of it.

100% juices are a good thing too!

Just make it a habit to not drink soda.

#11 Habit For Good Health: Brush And Floss

Maybe your parents didn’t realize it when they implored you to brush and floss your teeth, but by forcing you to do so, they may have added 6 years to your life.

Experts now believe that the bacteria that creates dental plaque also enters our bloodstream and can cause corrosion of the arteries and blocks blood vessels.

So making brushing and flossing a habit may stop heart disease or heart attacks.

#12 Habit For Good Health: Eat Hot Foods Once Per Week At Least

When I say hot here, I am not talking about stove or oven hot. I am talking about spicy hot.

Now, you may not think you can handle Jalapeno or Habanero Peppers, but the health benefits are immense. These spicy peppers contain one of the best cancer-fighting substances known to man, capsaicin.

So to build this habit, just add a small amount to a food item. You will start to build a tolerance and in time, you will habitually add hot peppers to certain meals.

#13 Habit For Good Health: Laugh Often and Laugh Loud

I know there is a time and place for everything. There are just some times when laughing is improper. But I doubt that you will be in that position all day.

Find a reason to laugh and do it!

Laugh because the health benefits are huge.

So to get you started, here is a corny joke that is bound to make you laugh:

How do you make a tissue dance?

Put a little boogie in it.

#14 Habit For Good Health: Stay Clear Of Negative People And Stay Positive Yourself

Science has found that negativity shortens human life spans.

Now I know that we cannot always escape negative people but if we are using a keen sense of awareness, we can stay out of their negative games.

Plus, we should habitually keep ourselves in a negative frame of mind.

If you start making these 14 tips habits, you WILL see a healthier you each day in the mirror.

Now, I recommend you do one at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself by changing everything at once. One at a time is the best way.

Also, make your new habits enjoyable and you may want to find a partner to join you. Accountability can help us maintain our new health habits.

Before I sign off, I want to share another habit many have developed since we developed Klamax… A powerful anti-aging and skin repairing solution that keeps you healthy and youthful inside and out.
